Solutions-Based Leadership

Meet Davin Perry

My name is Davin Perry and I currently hold position #6 for the Airway Heights City Council. I want to make this city all it can be. A little about me...

A great quote I love is - "Decisions are made by those who show up". Well sign me up.

I'm a logistics obsessed, type-A personality who values being on-time, following through, and paying attention to the details.

I'm nearly a lifelong west plains resident. I grew up in Medical Lake, spent 10 years living in Cheney and since 2018 have called Airway Heights home.

I started my career as a multimedia and video professional working for EWU Athletics and then made stops in LA and Atlanta.

Afterwards I returned to EWU for a post-bac in electrical engineering, followed by a year working in the bay area.

In 2017 I came back to teach high school and give back to the community I love. And now I'm running for City Council to make a difference and make a change.

The most important issue for the city is securing a new safe and clean water source.  We currently have secured the funding available for a new well and must work with our local and state partners to ensure the job gets done.

The first issue I noticed as a resident is the poor use of the city's website and disseminating information in general to citizens. Communication is random, the website is rarely up-to-date, lacks in providing transparency, and doesn't provide clear and concise information for residents.

I'm a detail oriented numbers guy with a love for spreadsheets. I feel all citizens should be able to easily see the budget for the city. Yet it's not there online, or at least I can't find it. A similarly sized city - Liberty Lake - publishes their budget for easy access.

I'm not saying I can magically solve all the budget woes of the city, but I believe another set of discerning eyes will help.

Airway Heights is experiencing tremendous growth. We need to manage this growth and make sound decisions about zoning, water issues, and what we allow developers to do.

Airway Heights has a higher population of renters than the state average. I want to increase the number of people who make Airway Heights home and not as a pit stop to elsewhere.

The city has a had a downtown corridor strategic plan in development for over 20 years. Let's take action and start with some changes, no matter how small they be. We can make Airway a stronger economic powerhouse of the the West Plains and destination for travelers with a great downtown.

We have a fabulous multi-million dollar recreation center that is underfunded and understaffed. Many of our parks are in disrepair and in need of improvements. Studies show that adequate parks & recreation improves the quality of life and reduces crime. Let's bolster this great asset.

With your help, I hope to give Airway Heights my all, and I ask for your support.
